As part of the Guatemalan Film Series, CLACS will be screening "Recycled Life," a documentary by Leslie Iwerks and Mike Glad, at 6:45 pm in the Joukowsky Forum. The film chronicles the story of thousands of families who live in the largest and most toxic and dangerous area in all of Central America: the Guatemala City dump. The inhabitants of the dump, who make a living recycling the city's trash, were shunned by society and ignored by the government until a disastrous and fateful event in January 2005 suddenly thrust these people into the public consciousness.
